Meredith MacNeill

Meredith MacNeill is a Canadian actress, comedian and writer. She is most known for creating, showrunning and starring in the critically acclaimed series BARONESS VON SKETCH SHOW, which was named one of The 10 Best Sketch-Comedy Shows to Stream by Vanity Fair.

The critically acclaimed show has won awards including 12 Canadian Screen Awards, 3 Canadian Comedy Awards, 2 Banff Rockies, 1 ACTRA award, and a Rose d’Or. It was named one of “The 10 Best Sketch-Comedy Shows to Stream Right Now” by Vanity Fair magazine and “The Best Thing to Come Out of Canada Since Ryan Gosling” by Vogue.

Drawing inspiration from experiences in her life, MacNeill creates by magnifying and championing distinct, comedy-forward stories from grounded characters for all audiences. Specifically lifting women in a protected atmosphere of collaboration.

MacNeill is set to make waves again with her recently greenlit CBC groundbreaking comedy series (Small Achievable Goals – working title) about the often-overlooked subject of menopause. The half-hour comedy that she co-created and wrote with fellow Baroness, Jen Whalen, will fearlessly tackle the typically taboo subject with her signature boundary-pushing, shame-tackling, stereotype-smashing approach.

MacNeill recently starred in the female buddy cop drama, Pretty Hard Cases, as the pencil-pushing, rule-abiding Guns & Gangs Detective Samantha Wazowski for CBC, NBCU and IMDb TV. The three season series was nominated for 22 Canadian Screen Awards.

Prior to Baroness she was both a writer and regular cast member in the hit satirical news program, This Hour Has 22 Minutes for CBC.

Meredith began working with the Royal Shakespeare Company. She later went on to work with Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Theatre de Complicite, Bush, and Arcola Theatre in London. She has also been featured in many film and television projects both in Canada and the UK. Some of her work includes Your Money or Your Wife, Big News from Grand Rock, Peep Show, Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel, Confetti and Man Stroke Woman.

Meredith is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England. She is from Nova Scotia.
